Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University was officially approved by the Ministry of Education of China and founded in Suzhou in 2004 by Xi'an Jiaotong University and the University of Liverpool in the UK. It is a new international university with an independent legal entity and distinctive characteristics.It is China's first Sino-foreign cooperative university that started with science, engineering and management.
